Is it worth seeking prices from Amex offered International Airline Group?
Aware they do not do economy flights.
Are their prices below going direct to airlines for premium economy and above?
If you have a Platinum card then – for business class – it may be worth it. The prices are loaded online now so you don’t need to call. I have had some people tell me that Amex had deals which were better than British Airways was selling direct.
It is only worth doing however if a) you have a Platinum card and b) it is an airline in what Amex calls its ‘International Airline Programme’ and b) you want Business or First.
It’s on our ‘to do’ list to do a proper deep dive into this.
Certainly when living in Singapore flying on Qatar and Singapore Airlines the prices could be very good pre-COVID using IAP – 15-20% less than list price which on a ticket to Europe was a decent discount.
Not something I ever see mentioned in the UK though so suspect not as good on BA. They do offer it on Prem Econ as well but I doubt they can be upgraded using Avios
