I had to restore my iPhone from a backup. All my other banking apps offered a mechanism for verification, but the Barclaycard app only gives the option to go through the registration process again.
After I’d done that, I asked on chat and was given a load of baloney about downloading the app from the Play Store and telling me to go through registration. When I challenged this (explaining patiently that the Play Store doesn’t work with Apple, that I already had the app as it was restored from backup, and that I was actually complaining about the need to re-register) the anonymous ‘Colleague’ confirmed that this was the only way to get back online.
Anyone would think that Barclays didn’t have any experience of banking and/or IT.
(On the plus side at least ApplePay is working now.)
As far as I know, a lot of banks do that as they register your phone with your account. If you had a second phone for example, you’d need to go thru it on that phone as well.

The way I see it is them covering their a..es for online account safety.I’m sure it is to do with security and arse-covering, but the fact that every other bank has a means of reconnecting to the same phone hardware without needing a complete re-registration does show what’s possible.
Barclaycard blocked my card due to suspected fraud (I spoke with their fraud team to advise that the transactions were genuine).
This removed my card from the app and I had to go through the registration process again.
A right pain in the backside.
