I’ve been contemplating the Gold to Platinum upgrade for a while, but there’s strong pros and cons to both. I already have a Currensea World Elite card which gives me access to the MC Travel programme, Avis and Hertz President’s Circle status and TEN Concierge service, which will expire next August. I think the main thing for me would be the Fine Hotels and Resorts programme, and whether it compares to the Mastercard Travel Programme. I travel with my partner 4-5 times a year, but usually use Ryanair or Easyjet, so out of Stansted or Gatwick predominantly.
I’m travelling to Barcelona in November for 2 nights, and trying to compare the FHR programme vs the Mastercard one. Mastercard has offers that mean I can get guaranteed $100 room credit, and the rest of the FHR benefits if avaialble, with things lookings ~£350-500. Would anyone be able to check if FHR has anything comparable between 24-26th November? I think if FHR has something better than this might swing it, but I’m struggling to justify the upgrade at the moment unless I’ve missed anything. I also use the Deliveroo credit monthly, which would largely ofset the Gold annual fee when it goes back up to £190.

TO add to above, I also already have car hire excess insurance and travel insurance expiring in September, so these perks also don’t really offset the fee for me either.
The FHR perk was one of the reasons I went for the Plat upgrade but as it turned out Emyr had better offers for the hotels we were looking at and we ended up not using FHR at all.
The other perks were useful but removing FHR from consideration meant that the Plat was slightly less attractive, ultimately.

Also, the Deliveroo credit offer remained on my account after the Plat upgrade. Not sure if it was an oversight or all upgraders get to keep it.
