Was recently targeted with a 1000 Avois bonus for booking my first train ticket with Uber. Not only have the points posted, plus points for the spend (I though that was only for Uber rides), but I’ve also got 10% cashback as Uber credit in my account…
10 Travelcards to get to work and the 11th is free, plus additional avios. Seems to good to be true, even Vs the discount from LNER on my Amex/Nectar Connect or going via the Trainline/TopCashBack.
If it works for you great, but see https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/uber-travel-still-bug-filled-and-near-impossible-to-use-for-rail-tickets.244325/
Thanks for sharing that John. My experience is a sample of one transaction, so maybe I did get lucky. I did contact Omio support to see if I was able to buy a travelcard and they said no the ticket isn’t supported. But going through the process it offered me one anyway.
If you have 12% LNER cashback on one of your Amex cards (rate seems to vary from 5% to 12%) then that would win out for me – cleaner, if nothing else.
Don’t forget the 5% airtime for LNER (minimum spend is now £70 but easily met if you buy a £100 voucher)
Personally I’ll only buy train tickets directly from one of the train operators.
As to travel cards what type was it? A one day card is very different from a weekly / monthly / annual one.

Only the 5% cashback on LNER with the new offers but also 10 Nectar points per £ on my next transaction via nectar connect. It’s a contender for one transaction.

It’s only a day travelcard, but being in London only twice a week it works for me. Quite happily see how this continues. At £35 it’s not going to set the world of fire with the amount of Avios, but that’s 35 Avios through Uber, 53 from Amex and a free trip every 5 weeks.
