Issues with Barclaycard App

Hi All, I’ve recently obtained with the Avios Plus Barclaycard,

While the card works fine and I can access the online banking to monitor spend etc the mobile app refuses to open and says I need to be verified at a branch, I tried re-installing and it worked briefly but then next time I tried to log in again the error came up again.

My query is, is there anything I actually need the app to do in regards to avios that can’t be done on the online banking? I know I can’t see any pending Avios or progress bars towards bonuses on the online banking but as long as I get the avios in the end and can keep track of my spending I don’t think I need the app so don’t know if it’s worth the faff of trying to get Barclays to sort the IT issue with accessing the mobile app.

Can anyone advise if the app is actually needed for anything, I was thinking perhaps I might have to use it to choose the upgrade voucher or the avios reward after 10k spend but other than that I’m happy to live without it.
