How likely would it be to be allowed to use the First Wing if I’m flying out of T5 in J, on the basis that I’m coming back in on the same booking in F?
This gets you access to You First so there would be some logic to it, if flimsy! (I’m only a silver at the moment).
Likely response: Computer says no!
BA are strict with lounge entry criteria. First lounge isn’t what it used to be anyway so just enjoy Galleries.
Fair enough! Thought I’d make sure I wasn’t missing out needlessly!
The First lounge is not that amazing to be honest. However if you’re keen to experience both it and the CCR you could book the cheapest economy ticket out of T5 later the day you land and go in to both on the back of your F inbound. Obviously luggage could be an issue but there are plenty of options to get around that. You don’t need to take the flight of course!
On a separate note I did see a mouse run past my feet whilst sat in the CCR yesterday morning.
As above, you’re probably not missing much…
The First Wing experience a couple of weeks ago was way below previous visits – arrived around 0600, FW security was so backed up that the queue extended back past the boarding pass check and almost to the FW entrance, after a few minutes without any progress I gave up and went along to Fast Track instead.
Once I’d gone the long way round to get to the lounge, the only bubbly I found was the poor Palmer, and choices on table ordering were greatly reduced, no full-English breakfast option. In retrospect I should’ve gone to the buffet, but was short of time and had already got my laptop out to do some work, settled for the scrambled eggs on toast, which was borderline nasty. Topped up later with the on-board breakfast and better bubbly too.

But it’s not that easy to then get to landside at T5. BA need to process your exit from the terminal and HAL only do a walk out once an hour.

Just take the train to C and stay on it, you’ll end up at immigration.
If you don’t intend to use the ticket, you don’t need to “process your exit” though it may be courteous to inform BA in case your non-boarding is delaying the flight from closing.
