Jakarta – Must see/do

I appreciate that there is an Indonesian master thread but it’s mainly Bali and Java.

I have two stays coming up in Jakarta of 2 nights and 3 nights, book ending a trip to Bali. Although I have past through the city before, I have never stayed and looking for the must sees and do in this mega city!

Staying at the IC which I know is not the best location but it has a fabulous spa and opposite a mall but there must be more to Jakarta.

It’s a terrible location for a first-time tourist. If at all possible, change your plans and book a property in Central Jakarta, either around Bundaran HI (Kempinski, Grand Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental, Keraton, or Park Hyatt a little further away) or in Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), eg Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place. Otherwise you risk spending a long time just sitting in a Grab car and not seeing much. Main tourist sites include around Monas (National Monument) where there is also the national museum and national library, and Kota Tua, the old city in Northern Jakarta. Both of these areas are miles away from the IC.
