Maybe since Topgiftcards have stopped accepting Amex, Jam Doughnut is an alternative for supermarket credit?

Although when I’ve attempted to use an Amex via Google Wallet in recent days the payment has always declined.

Amex acceptance is the big thing. Works easily with apple pay. Though note headline rates are for bank transfer so rates drop for credit card payments. Rates vary compared to say TCB – e.g. Tesco is less (3.8% vs 5%) but AirBnB is more (4.9% vs 4.5%).

For example JamDoughnut has B&Q/Nandos whereas TCB doesn’t. But largely retailers look the same. Anything you have on mind?

Amex doesn’t seem to work via Google Wallet, but will investigate.

Okay, messaged the Doughnuts and they replied with…”we are currently experiencing difficulties processing Amex payments via Google Pay. Usually, we would offer to make your payment through Amex on the web, but we’re also doing some maintenance currently on web payments.” 🙄

The interesting thing is Jam Doughnut tracks/credits without the long wait / uncertainty TopCashback has…

…and the slightly smaller wait experienced with Airtime Rewards.

Just received an email telling me in-store cashback from TopCashback coming to an end 10am on 31 October. Interesting development.

Remember Jam Doughnut has the advantage you can buy a voucher instantly via the app to benefit from a discount. A clear plus for those less planned purchases / those where amount uncertain in advance (avoids need to ‘overbuy’ vouchers elsewhere that may go to waste).

Referral: GASU for anyone who still hasn’t signed up. I’ve already saved a fair bit.

Wouldn’t need to if people played fair! At least in my eyes. But it’s all only a game so I’m still smiling… 😊

Happy to pass on the chain, I’ve tried it out and think I’ll be using it in supermarkets moving forward. My referral is 8JKD

I got a pop up whilst logging into the App today “ we are no longer accepting Amex”.
I’m not sure if this temporary, because of maintenance; or the option had gone for good.
It’s a shame as this was really valuable, doubling up points and Avios. Even better when overlaid with top cash back!, managed to save over 14% on a new Dyson recently with Avios collection too.

Used it twice day on AMEX via Apple Pay

I’ve been using it heavily since @Swiss Jim mentioned it on here, also using Amex via Apple Pay which is quick and easy.

Got the pop up a few days ago stating Amex was not being accepted so I haven’t used it since as I’ve just started my new BAPP year so need to funnel all spend here for a while. Shame as it was a good perk but without Amex support I won’t use it often now so hopefully its only temporary. Still not allowing Amex payments this evening for me.

Nice whilst it lasted: ability to work towards spend in Amex, get a few % off, and effectively pay with Amex where it wasnt accepted by the shop you had the voucher for was good.

Nonsense. It still works – just tested it. I was fearful people would be claiming back my referral payments.

    @Points Hound, maybe it was a glitch…

    GASU btw 😉

I’ve just had the same re Amex, ‘American express not accepted by app’. 😏
