Would welcome any advice of likelihood of receiving compensation for a flight delay on Jet Blue from the US back into London.
I was due to fly LAS to LGW routed via BOS however the LAS to BOS leg was delayed meaning I would miss the connection. Instead Jet Blue transferred me on a BA flight going direct from LAS to LGW. I arrive back into London on the same day but over 4 hours than the original timing had I been on the original Jet Blue routing.
I know that EU261 would not apply as it’s on a non EU carrier but just to see if any compensation would be due for the delay. On the flip side Jet Blue were great to book me straight away onto another carrier without me even having to ask (even though I would have preferred to fly Jet Blue as the product in economy is far better than BA and a hell of a lot cheaper flight prices)
I have put a claim in anyway via Resolver and Jet Blue first response was no compensation is due. Just wanted to see other people’s experience in this type of case. Either way I was very happy with how Jet Blue acted so even if compensation is not due I am still happy with the outcome
If your flight was delayed due to a “Controllable Irregularity” you are entitled to compensation good for future travel on JetBlue: https://www.jetblue.com/customer-assurance/customer-service-plan#delays
That is about it.
The regulation simply does not apply in this case.
The BA flight was on time so they have no liability either.
Did they re-route you at your earliest convenience?
Thanks all for the feedback.
Yes Richie they did re-route on the next available flight back from Vegas to London (so I was in two minds to try and claim and I would by sure book with them again knowing if the flight is delayed then they will simple rebook on the next available flight even if that is on a different airline)
Yes had a great time Richie but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so can’t say more !!!
Sounds like Jet Blue treated you really well!
Personally, I would prefer the direct flight. Jet Blue from Boston is due into LGW at 6.35am, and the Boston flight is so short you have no chance to sleep.
@1967stuart2 thank you this is a really good recommendation to fly JetBlue.
They treated you as well as they could even incurring some cost for themselves by putting you on BA who for sure weren’t giving them much of a deal.
I’ll definitely consider JetBlue for Transatlantic now whereas I mightn’t have before.
Er.. sorry, no compo though 🙂
