Johannesburg?

Hi everyone
I’m looking for advice or recommendations regarding Johannesburg.

We have 3 days there before being picked up for a safari in Botswana.
We were planning on visiting the Apartheid Museum and the Cradle of Humankind.

We are using a Virgin companion voucher and points but haven’t booked our return flight yet.
Unfortunately no UC availability either way for Johannesburg or Cape Town.

We will be dropped back in Jo’burg after the safari which would give us another 3 days.
I would really like 3 days relaxing somewhere fab after the early starts on safari or we could just fly straight back to the UK.
Any suggestions in Jo’burg or nearby for somewhere with a bit of luxury perhaps even vineyards or would that involve travelling across country?
Not sure about driving out there.

Tbh I just don’t think you’ve got long enough either end with only 3 nights to do anything worthwhile. I’d try and make it 5 nights at one end then consider Drakensburg mountains driving Durban or Capetown flying

@HampshireHog Thank you, we are stuck with the 3 days as we have to be back for work – it’s such an inconvenience!
What are your thoughts on Johannesburg? Can’t say it has ever been top of my list but the weather will hopefully be better than here in August.

Fly up to Victoria Falls. Lovely hotel called the Livingston.

There is nothing worth seeing in Johannesburg. For a not too far distance check out Magaliesburg or Sun City Resort. Drakensberg is nice, but far and the N3 is a tricky road (high accident rate).
On second thoughts – August is mid-winter, it is cold and very dry, give Sun City a miss.

Mmm August obs their winter so not a lot of point heading to the coast. I’d concentrate on booking your return flights tbh. Dont forget Qatar an option. Pilanesburg reserve in the crater next to Sun city would be an option outbound before Botswana to get you in the mood
