I was, frankly, shocked, having prepared myself to spend the whole day on the phone to BA, but it was picked up virtually immediately (this was at 10am).
Potentially the reason is that I called the number for ‘Gold members currently outside the UK’ which is 020 7949 3066. I used Skype so it couldn’t be seen that I was calling from the UK.
The last couple of time I’ve called this number, when I genuinely was overseas, it took about 40 minutes to pick up but that was during the peak Summer season. It may be – or may not be – that this line is prioritised over the standard Gold line. Or perhaps I just got lucky.
Lucky you!
To be fair, I called the Gold line on Sunday, and it was picked up within 30minutes (twice)

I was very pleasantly surprised yesterday when I called the regular 0800 Gold number and got through almost immediately. Almost like pre-pandemic. Had a very helpful and knowledgeable assistant book my open jaw Avios+GUF redemption.

Wait, what? You can call landlines from WhatsApp? Since when?
What it must be like to be a Gold member! Everyone else is just directed to a message to say they are busy followed by call termination.

You’re right, you can’t 🙂
I very rarely use it and I only have it because Sinead and my brother refuse to get an iPhone.
