Hi, anyone who has gone through this KYC ID check process before? You have to upload your ID and address proof.. How did it go for you? How long does it take them to unsuspend your account after you uploaded your documents online?
It may be best to upload then call them to say you have. I was asked to do so for a supplementary cardholder then about 10 days later received an email saying “You have uploaded documents and we don’t know why”
When was that? I called them and they said 13,000 members are also selected in this exercise..

It’s happened here I wouldn’t worry about it
I have just posted about the KYC dept – they have just shut my long term BA AMEX account down today (without notice). I got an email at lunchtime saying my card was blocked with immediate effect and the account will close on 25/12 – Merry Christmas eh?
I had actually uploaded KYC docs for them in the summer and they said everything was in order. Ihave 14,000 avios to transfer yet, so they better honour them or i will sue them.

From what you say, they have given the required two months notice as the closure won’t take effect until 25 Dec. Is there absolutely no apparent reason for them to close your account? We read here of lots of people playing with fire with their BAPP, but you say it has been held long term so presumably without upgrading/downgrading, self referrals, information mismatches etc.
In theory, per the terms Avios earned prior to the closure should be transferred but no new ones can be earned.

Have they given required notice?? Surely it should be 2 months until they stop spending. They have stopped the card immediately however. It is my understanding they can only do an ‘immediate’ halt in specific cases (such as fraud etc…). Otherwise they have to give 2 months notice (and no reason needs to be given).

Are you based in Isle of Man? It has been reported that Amex is closing down all accounts for cardholders based there: https://www.energyfm.net/cms/news_story_744284.html
Uploaded my documents for 5 days and still no response…

It can take anything between a day to a month provided that they are happy with the documents you have uploaded.

Good luck at suing them, it is not their fault that IOM is treated as a different jurisdiction and the client base it too little to bother about from a regulatory point of view. They have given you the appropriate notices as per T&Cs. You should be grateful if they allow you to transfer the Avios.
Anyone else who can share their views? I uploaded my documents 2 weeks ago, and every time I call them they say I will ask someone to call you back but no answer.. come on! It isn’t that hard to review two simple documents…
I called them about a week after uploading mine and they could tell me that the case was now closed ie they had all they needed. That was for Plat, which they might prioritise over lower fee/free cards if you have one of those.

I uploaded mine in July. The emailed me over the weekend to say some documents weren’t acceptable.
I had to call in to find out which ones. From what I understand they are inundated with complaints about the KYC process.
