Not sure if anyone can help with this but trying to find reward flights from London August 25 and returning September 1. Looking pretty much anywhere for a week long beach break. I can find outbound flights to many places but it is the inbound that seems impossible to find. Is there some way to search for inbound availability? Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
A lot of people will be returning for the start of the new school year at the beginning of September which will account for the poor availability. Have you got SeatSpy? There’s a facility to look at a map of availability for your chosen dates.
Seatspy has nothing on those dates for a beach in Europe. Closest is Cairo or Turin but you obviously need onward travel from there. The Ligurian Riviera is a 3 hour drive from Turin airport.
Much further afield there is Houston (easily in reach of the Gulf of Mexico America) and Mumbai (easily in reach of Goa).
If you can adjust a day or so either side, Madrid, Paris and Rome are all showing, from where it’s fairly simple to connect to the respective coasts.
Also, how many people is it for?
If trains don’t appeal Iberia domestic flights can be very cheap but increase in price a fair bit closer to the travel date. You could also try searching for (e.g.) LHR-MAD-AGP with avios on ba.com for award seats.
Also – as you say, there’s plenty of outbound availability (at least for 2 people), so if you don’t mind connecting on the way back you actually have quite a lot of choice, and of course that would be less hassle (and cost) than connecting both ways.

I am looking for 2 people. Would love to try one of the Greek islands. Iberia seems to fly to Santorini and Mykonos but having trouble searching for LHR-MAD-JTR or LHR-MAD-JMK. Return dates are flexible by a day or two.
Have you tried searching for each sector separately? This will show you if there’s availability. There might not be seats available on the MAD-Greece sectors at this late stage, or the connection times might not work (or require an overnight stay in Madrid). You’re much more likely to find seats to a Spanish destination to where there are multiple departures per day.
SeatSpy doesn’t show IB but I think the new tool discussed in a separate thread here does – https://www.flighttimecalendar.com/
If Greece is an option you may be better looking at something to ATH and then buying yourself a final domestic flight to an island. Aegean and Sky Express fly across the country or you could hop over to the ferry port and take a high speed ferry from Piraeus to any one of the many islands.
Otherwise late August is till warm up in France. That time of the year we normally head to somewhere like Ile de Re, near to La Rochelle. You can fly in/out of Paris and take a HS train to the coast. It wont be as blistering hot as the Med but still decently warm.
Again, inbound is going to be the problem from ATH, unless OP can find availability on IB, but that would make for a very long journey home!
That said, there are some decent coastal areas within a reasonable drive of Athens; we stayed near Marathon some years ago which offered a good mix of resort stay plus sightseeing.
The new BA flight to Salerno in Southern Italy. They have plenty of reward seats available on 25th August, but only 1 coming back on 1st September.
You could book that then hope for more availability to be released? Or use award seats outbound, then fly back on ITA from Naples – £120 each via Milan??
@sdahl38 I’ve had a quick look at Reward Flight Finder’s Worldwide Map and flight by flight availability for you. I’m not sure how many seats you’re looking for, and considering you’re looking at a week I’ve assumed you don’t want to go too far…so, look at:
London – Barcelona 24th, returning on 31st. There’s 6 Economy seats
London – Las Vegas 24th or 26th, returning on 1st or 2nd, there’s lots of Premium Economy
London – New York 25th returning on 1st. There’s 6 Premium Economy seats on both days
There’s a few more options too, but you’re better looking yourself and setting Alerts if you need to.
Happy travelling!
Thanks everyone for all your help. I will do more research based on your recommendations.
There’s no inbound availability from BCN on ba.com until Sep 2nd, but if that was too late it would be easy to connect via MAD (or there might be availability via IB website direct to London). It is within driving distance of some nice stretches of coast, e.g. the area near Girona and the Medas islands.
