Rob is OK with me posting this. (Not BA related, but this was Rob’s suggestion of forum.)
Some of you may have read my guest articles here on HfP about the Qsuite, the economics of first class, costing BA’s Avios only flights to Dubai and “To fly? To Starve?”
These were originally posted on what was my hobby blog: revman.substack.com
I am pleased to announce that effective today I going full-time to try and turn this little hobby blog into an aviation thought leader.
This means a lot more content from me. I am promising 120 articles a year, but I also promise no “filler”. Everything I write is something I would like to read about myself. It will be more original analysis and comment rather than “Emirates released their annual report”. 100% written by humans and AI free.
There will be a broad range of topics covering everything airline revenue related plus some airport and sustainability economics, and every now and then something a little silly just for fun.
At the time of posting you can read about a dozen previous articles on the site. These and most new content will soon be moving behind a paywall.
It is a bit rough and ready – I know the URL is not great, there is no logo etc… I will work on these. I know I am not perfect and am only one man, but I do try and highlight the interesting and the unusual.
Your paid subscription buys you access to all the future articles and the entire archive. A free subscription shows a preview of each article.
It will help me invest in data and analytics to show you cool things. It will also help me attend a few carefully selected events where genuine innovation is discussed so I can tell you tomorrow’s news, today!
In this industry there is something new to learn every day. Join me and learn that new thing here on Airline Revenue Economics!
I am offering an early-bird rate of £120 per year (£40 off) if you sign up before 15-July, which you can access by clicking this link:

I know I will be seeing you here on HfP forums. I also hope to see you on Airline Reveune Economics soon.

£99 per year is more sellable.
@Richie – Oliver’s product is excellent and worth far,far more than £99. It’s already extraordinarily good value at the full price for anyone who’s seriously interested in the industry.
I can’t believe the suggestion that you undervalue someone’s proprietary intellectual output quite so much that £21, less than two hours minimum wage or less than two pizzas, is a deal breaker. Have you ever looked at the price of professional publications?
I’m already a paid subscriber and will upgrade to the new product which he emailed us about this morning.
£99 per year is more sellable.
Thanks Richie.
£99 is an interesting price point because while it looks compelling and might stimulate demand in the short term, there is nowhere to go in the longer term.
Next year, £99 in today’s money will be £102 give or take due to inflation. The year after £105 etc…
But if pricing is stuck at £99 a revenue stream is diminishing in real value each year. When prices are forced to increase the jump is “too big” and it makes people more unhappy than if they had been sold at £101 (or £120) at the start.
This is why, if you look carefully, BA’s fares increase by a few Pounds regularly. And why Greggs sausage rolls are now £1.30.
An excellent example of the type of insight available to readers of Airline Revenue Economics.
If the market for subscribers is uncapped, more subscribers is just more revenue.
Always love your content, Oliver – your reply above itself has convinced me to subscribe 👏

Managing comments has costs though.
