LAX-LHR-DEL BA route query

The normal route is straight over Poland and Ukraine. I’m good with Poland, but… I hope I’m correct in assuming BA is now taking a more southerly, if rather more fuelish, route over Turkey and Iran (gulp). I’d consider Qatar but LAX-DOH goes right over bloody Moscow! For reasons we can’t go into here I can’t risk an unplanned landing in Russia. Maybe I should plump for LAX-NRT-DEL?

BA are not flying over Ukraine. Many airlines are no longer flying over Russian airspace. You can check which routes airlines are using with flightradar24. It may not be the shortest one.

Just look at the relevant flights from recent days and use playback, there’s a lot of deviation from great circle routes at the moment around Belarus/ Russia/ Ukraine.

No-one is routing over Ukraine. LAX-DOH often routes over Turkey/ Romania/ Poland but not always – the polar routes look weird on flat map but should give you a good idea of what is viable.
