Flying from LCY on a Saturday morning at 7:30AM. What would you recommend as drop off time if we have luggage to check out (can use BA priority check in if that exists at LCY).
Since we don’t have a lounge there do not want to get too early and just have nothing to do for hours!
(I understand the new security machines should be even faster than usual which is cool)
It’ll be busy, so before 6 is my guess.
I wouldn’t go before 6 myself. 6.30 is probably more reasonable. I actually don’t mind hanging around one of the gates and watch the planes come and go, but an hour before the flight, even at peak times, is ample.
Problem is BACF has 10 planes that need to get in the air before 9am. The leisue passengers for 7.40 Malaga, 8.O5 Palma and 8.30 Ibiza will arrive before 6.30 ish, I’d get there before this crowd.
Yeah I am on the 7:40am to Malaga so I feel like just 1hr is a little too short if I must also drop the luggage. I will pick up the thread again once I fly in case it helps others in the future.
I’d stick with my suggestion of 6.30 – especially if your flight is at 7.40 and not 7.30. Let us know how it goes!

BTW there’s also a BACF 7.45 to Quimper which may be Gold and Silver pax heavy checking bags in the CE drop off queue.
I’m getting that flight next Saturday and will also be dropping bags. Planning on getting there very shortly after 6, just to be safe.

It can get busy at City but things are generally so quick, I’m not concerned.
We took 735am flight to Rotterdam on Friday. Arrived at car park at 6am and got to check in around 610am. Had luggage to check in but no queue. Security was busy but smooth. One bag pushed off to be inspected and that took 10 mins of waiting / luggage being checked. Still had plenty of time. Boarded around 15 minutes of departure time.
Well…. we arrived at 06:19 and joined the queue to drop our bags which moved pretty quickly. At 06:29 we were in the queue for security and at 06:36 we were wandering down to fill our water bottles by gate 7. Flight going from gate 5.
