Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Lead passenger different to the person who booked.

    Hi All

I booked flights for the family last year. Always booked through my exec account, but my wife is showing as the lead passenger. As she doesn’t have status I’m unable to book seats etc.

Why / How would this happen and is there anyway to change it?

I think it takes the lead passenger as the first name you enter when you book rather than the account you book from, which might explain that aspect. However it doesn’t – or at least shouldn’t – make any difference to status benefits. If you have a flight booking with BAEC number showing then you get your benefits (as do all the others on the booking where applicable).

When you say unable to book seats, what status do you have, and do you mean it’s asking you to pay?

I’ve entered my RJ Silver Jay (bronze) but it saying I can choose seats free 48 hours before or pay.

Usually it says 7 days before.

Ah that may be an RJ issue, others have reported various things in that respect which I can’t comment on. With BA it’s either at the time of booking (Gold or Silver) or seven days for Bronze as you say. So 48 hours is a bit of a curve ball.

Have you tried the RJ MMB? It isn’t the best for seat selection as it doesn’t actually show you available seats for BA bookings so you have to work that out yourself first, but might give a different perspective on status entitlement.

Is that when accessing the booking through your account @Mark?

If you’re a passenger on the booking and your RJ number is against your name then it should work, doesn’t matter who the lead booker is. Maybe worth a call/chat

I’ve had something similar in the past, I had to switch the FF back to BA, save, exit the booking then switch back. If that doesn’t work you may have to call BA at t-7.
