Flying with ANA LHR-HND – are they avoiding Russian airspace and if so which side of the plane is best for views of Mt Fuji?
You should check the route history using FlightRadar24 for your flight number. I checked the last few days for NH212 (LHR – HND), and it passes Mount Fuji to the South during the initial part of the descent, around 40 miles away, so you’d need to be on the left side assuming the route remains the same. You’d probably get a pretty good view if the weather is clear.
Usually I’ve sat on the left and been able to see it fairly consistently, but as Gavin mentions it does depend on the approach which can sometimes change.
The cabin attendants occasionally announce that Mt Fuji will be coming into view over the PA, but you should definitely let them know you’d like to see it and they would be happy to let you know (and if you speak to a Japanese CA they’ll probably be super thrilled you even asked!)
Have a great trip
