Traveling to NAS in early April. Both outbound and return legs are showing as 777’s, but outward is currently the old style Club layout and return is the new Club Suite. A few days ago, it was the other way around (Suite outbound, old layout return).
Do BA have many 777’s to update to the new Club Suite? ….Hoping for a further change so we have both outbound and return in the new Club Suite!
As you’ve seen CS is not guarenteed at the moment and planes get switched around so I wouldn’t count on getting it until you’re actually sat on the plane!
According to the thread over on FT, this is the status of the Boeing 777 Club World Suite refit programme
777-200ER
☻ Three class configuration: 48J 40W 184M (10/13, 77% complete)
☻ Four class configuration: 8F 49J 40W 138M (15/15, 100% complete)
777-300ER
☻ Four class configuration: 8F 76J 40W 130M (10/16, 63% complete)
So there are 3 more 777-200ER and 6 777-300ER aircraft to be refitted. That’s 20% of the number of aircraft with old CW still fitted.
Thanks @AJA
I would like to think that would mean anyone flying Club in a BA operated 777 would have a (low) 1 in 5 chance of ending up with the Old style configuration. But I think I read somewhere that all LON <–> NYC flights are now guaranteed to be Club Suite, which I guess significantly decreases the chances of seeing the Club suite on non-NYC flights!…. Just have to keep my fingers crossed for another plane change!
It should be low chance. Two of those three 777-200ERs yet to be refitted are currently at BA’s Cardiff engineering base; it is believed they will return with CS. However they are in 3 class configuration which is normally used on the NAS route these days.
The route doesn’t use the larger 777-300ERs so you won’t get one of those.
So in theory you’d take from that it should be almost all CS. Except that’s not quite the whole story…
The 777s earmarked for Gatwick based operations have been refurbished without CS, including three in four class configuration with First which are currently operating from Heathrow instead. So you could find yourself on one of those.
Is there a way in MMB to see whether its a 777-200ERs or a 777-300ERS? I have taken a look and it only says ‘777 Jet’ as far as I can see.
Never a 300 on that route. Though I guess you could say “never say never!”
Speedbird.online will give you history of which plane has flown a given route.
You could probably tell from the seat map what is CURRENTLY ear-marked for your flight.
LHR –> NAS (2nd April) showing rows 10 to 15 in Old Club World layout. Return leg (12th April) showing rows 5 to 17 in new Club Suite layout.
Both four class 777-200ERs.
The outbound is one of the Gatwick refurbished aircraft without CS now operating out of Heathrow, type 77R.
The inbound is a refurbished Heathrow aircraft with CS, type 77M.

Bit of a mix and match on that route it seems as recently they’ve been mostly three class aircraft (no First).
