Work started today on converting the rest of T3’s scanners. This includes closing Virgin’s Upper Class security channel from 9 January to 20 February 2024.
If it’s any consolation it appears that the fast tracklane at T3 has already had them installed so this shouldn’t cause too much of a delay in clearing security – as long as people follow the instructions!
Used the T3 fast track new scanners this week. Would have been a big benefit If Heathrow security staff had pre-briefed the Q to not remove liquids and electronics from bags.
Any time gain from faster screening was lost to passengers having to repack bags.
@QwertyKnowsBest – I believe this is a deliberate policy on the basis that not many security points yet have the new equipment, so they don’t want people assuming that the next time they pass through the airport they can leave liquids and electronics in their bags.
