Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club LHR to LAX Advice/Tips

  • 1 post

My first post covid trip and I’m really looking forward to it, London to Los Angeles with BA (operated by AA) next Friday 26/5. I have the Amex Preferred Gold card so any advice and tips for my trip would be welcome 😀

Not sure this is entirely a BA FF topic, and it kinda depends on what you need advice for I guess, and a bit more info like time of day, where you are, booking class etc.

Whilst it is a BA ticket, you will need to check in with AA – so maybe get the AA app and find the AA record locator from your BA booking. Covid requirements for USA were removed on 11 May so hopefully no more hoops to jump through.

Assuming no status, and no perks from business class, there are 2 lounges at T3 that you can use by virtue of your Amex card and the associated Priority Pass membership. This article reviews them and explains how you can pre-book: https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/05/18/uk-airport-lounges-which-can-be-reserved-by-priority-pass/

Unless you are a US citizen you will need an ESTA, or visa, for the US. Immigration is the same as ever but you no longer need to fill in the blue customs form.

Sorry if this is too basic, but if you haven’t already done so, AA usually lets you book seats free ahead of time, even without status, unlike BA. As @tiriavpo says, you’ll need the AA record locator for this. Have you have a good trip.
