Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club LHR>HEL with (BA) Avios on AY

When planning mileage-based RTWs, I often found that the distance from A to B used by the ticketing airline was slightly — or, sometimes, not so slightly — different from the number quoted by such tools as the Great Circle Mapper. I am looking at making an Avios booking from Heathrow to Helsinki on Finnair. Does anyone here have experience with such a trip? Is it Zone 2 (9000 Avios) or Zone 3 (11,000)? My question is motivated by the fact that Z. 2 goes up to 1150 miles whilst LHR-HEL, according to the GCM, is 1151. But maybe BA’s system makes it something like 1149? TIA

I’ve got a multi airline booking SIN-HND-HEL-LHR and the HEL-LHR segment was counted as 1134 miles.

I think that BA’s “how many avios and tier points will I earn” is probably closest to the mileage they use. This says that HEL-LHR on Finnair on a flexible Y ticket earns 1130 Avios
