We are thinking of going away as a family next Christmas. There are 5 of us. We’d be flying economy.
If I ring the US BA number at 12:00 at 350 days before the flight, what is the likelihood of getting 5 seats?
I understand there are 8 economy seats released, but we are looking at going to a Caribbean island that only has two flights per week. So if we didn’t get all 5 reward seats we’d like, the whole trip would be off.
BA releases seats 355 days in advance not 350.
Whether you get them or not depends on the demands other people have for the same date as you.
I’d say you have a good chance. I’d personally try booking them online, unless you can be confident of your call being answered in the sweet spot.
I recently booked 6 economy tickets online at midnight. The remaining 2 had gone 10 minutes later (ie the tickets were in demand, and like you, we’d have been stuffed if a family of four (say) had got 4 tickets before us.
Which island? I only ask because if you have your heart set on it, it can be very simple to connect from the USA, to where you will find plentiful award seats.
But have a go at T-355 – make sure you know exactly when your date will be released (you can do that by looking at the latest bookable date currently and counting forward).
I would also try online. The phone lines may be very busy with people trying to book for the Xmas period, and I imagine most people booking at that point will be trying for J and PE seats.
