Limit on number of amendments to avios booking?

I have a flight in October this year which I won’t know until right before if I actually can take it.
The next possible date I would want to amend it to will be in November 2023 on the same route.
My question is, would I be able to amend the booking to a random date (on that route). Then once the seats for the dates I want to travel on are released change it again?

You don’t mention if the booking includes a 241, so presumably it doesn’t. You can’t ‘amend’ the booking the way you describe as the (voluntary)rebooking for Nov 2023 will take it outside the 12 month ticket validity. However, you can just cancel as long as it is at least 24 hours before the flight, get your Avios and cash back (less £35 fee per pax) and then rebook for whenever you want. You will have to pay any additional Avios or cash that may apply, as you would with a voluntary amendment.

Voluntary change would incur the admin fee and reprice of avios and cash element every time you change it.

There is little point (other than give BA multiple sets of £35) of doing multiple interim re bookings (which are in effect new bookings requiring avios availability)

Of course you can wait to see if BA cancels the flight in which case other provisions will then apply.
