Just answered a reader query and I noticed SeatSpy showing a LOT of F availability to HND towards the end of this year. Might be SeatSpy just being SeatSpy but worth checking on BA if you’re interested!
(Caveat – I haven’t checked, I don’t even know if BA offers F on this route!)
The BA5 787 service, as per the timetable, has an F cabin to HND.
I assume it’s the old 787-9 without checking on EF?
Might be a glitch. BA rewards finder was also showing availability but when going to try and book nothing was coming up (tried 4 or 5 of dates showing in rewards finder)
There’s been a fair bit of First released much closer than that, too. In the past week or so there have been 3 First seats released on BA8 (back from Tokyo, 787-9) in early February, and also a fair few seats heading out to Tokyo on JAL’s shiny new A350 – 4 appeared for the 27th January, 2 for the 26th January the other day.
JAL’s First would be the holy grail, but of course you can’t use a companion voucher on them.
They do pop up, and I’m sure more will too, but you have to be quick to catch them!
EDIT: And checking some random dates early next year on Expertflyer, it looks like the 787-8 with Club Suites will appear on the route early next year. So it’s either a 787-9 with First and old Club World, or a 787-8 with Club Suites and no First.
Looks like seatspy being its usual level of useless. Checked for a couple and BA is showing nothing.
To be fair, I think SeatSpy gets the data from BA, and it sounds like there’s been some glitch on the BA flight finder thingy.
Apologies for getting anyone unnecessarily exited!
I was looking at flights to Boston a couple of days ago, lots of F showing. Not a single one was real on BA.
That’s odd, because BOS is one of the few destinations where you can usually find some F redemptions.
I posted on a different thread recently. A couple of days ago I was looking on the BA website for flights from Atlanta to London for next Christmas/New Year. There were 2 first class tickets available for virtually every date I looked at. I was so surprised, I even tried booking to see if they were for real! They were. I could go through to the payment stage, but didn’t do the final click to purchase!
Don’t know if they’re still available, as I haven’t looked since.
That would be a good redemption in the other direction, because IIRC, the ATL flights depart from T3.
@NorthernLass. Atlanta flights are definitely scheduled from/to T3 in March according to our booking.

I’m not saying there were no F seats ever, but not on any of the days I was looking at where they appeared on seatspy.

Glad I spotted this as I’d not twigged we were in different terminals for outbound and inbound (outbound is IAD). And Heathrow Parking has rather fairly offered me a downgrade from Short Stay to Meet & Greet at 30 quid less than making a new booking. Saves what I think is a rubbish inter-terminal transfer.
And outbound to ATL you would have had the T3 lounges 😩

We have First to IAD so will have to make do with CCL 😉
