Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Just got this by email from Loganair, switching to Avios at end of month.

From 31 March 2025, our loyalty programme will be known as Loganair Loyalty.

Plus our loyalty currency is changing from Clan Points to Avios.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to make any manual changes.

More information will be shared on 31 March.

    “New Loyalty Currency
Your existing Clan Points will be automatically converted to Avios on 31 March. Your points balance will increase as we convert to Avios – aligning the value of your Avios with other airlines.”

Was hoping for a healthy conversion rate from Clan point to avios as having a mere 10k sitting around at the moment.

Don’t get too excited. Probably redeem at 0.6p like Vueling

They’ve just sent another email with collect and spend rates. Now we wait and see what the taxes will be and whether we can book on ba.com or not

Should find out more later today.

I’m cautiously optimistic, based on what we’ve seen so far…

If anyone was wondering how they were going to update existing Clan Points to Avios – it appears like they’ve gone back and revalued existing flights taken, rather than apply a multiplier to the Clan Point balance as of the end of 30th March.

I would have liked to double check how the conversion happened, but history has been re-written. For example, the transaction page is telling me I earned 410 Avios for a flight in September 2019.

Has anyone found any availability for reward flights on BA.com ? As far as I can tell the flights must be booked on the Loganair website

@gerjomarty yes likewise. It now says I earned 1300 avios instead of 800 clan point. Just link both accounts and have a sweet ~10k avios top up into my BAEC. 🙂

I was hoping to be able to book connecting flights using Avios on BA.com eg: MAD-LHR-IOM

However the above itinerary seems to be only available using cash. There’s no availability when I try and use Avios (on any date)

Checking prices on Loganair, it looks like availability is pretty decent out of ABZ, though not necessarily always good value. ABZ-DUB one-way is 6500 Avios + £42.14, but the same flight can be booked for £48.99 cash. Fly to some of the more expensive routes and you’re laughing though, 13,000 Avios + £82 return versus £428 return to Bristol on one set of dates for instance. Taxes and charges generally seem to be £58 – £82 return out of ABZ.

Connections are not included, so ABZ-MAN-IOM comes in at 26,000 Avios + £160 return for instance.

Forgive me if this is a thick question. What’s in it for Loganair here? Their fares are anecdotally “high” so you would imagine LF goes up but revenue goes down. Fells like I am missing something.

I contacted Loganair who told me the “through flight should be bookable with BA” and they advised me to contact BA.

Goodness knows how I get to reach someone at BA with appropriate knowledge or understanding…..

Anyone managed yet to link their Loganair Loyalty and BA Club accounts and transfer Avios?

When I follow Loganair’s instructions, which takes me via avios.com, and click the tile marked Loganair TRANSFER, I’m asked to verify my identity using a six digit code sent to my phone. Doing this takes me to a blank page.
