BA have just cancelled my domestic connection between Heathrow and Manchester on 2nd August. This was the last flight of the day.
Looks like I’ll need to take the 3rd August, early AM now.
I’m assuming I’m entitled to a hotel and taxi, plus compensation for arriving back in Manchester substantially later than planned, and now meaning I’m missing another day off work. (not helpful as a freelance guy with work planned that day).
I’ll need to ring them, but want to make sure I can screw them for as much as possible before doing so, and not losing any entitlements.
If they cancelled it today then you’ll get UK261 compensation (as it’s within 14 days) + hotel, transport and any meals (no alcohol)
They won’t arrange any of this in advance, you’ll put in your claim online after travel. If you can rebook online then no point to call them
There are a few economy seats on the 8.35pm if that helps

Taking earlier flight, even if possible for the OP, reduces any compensation payable though from £220 to £110. As BA will surely exercise their right to make that 50% reduction if compensation does turn out to be payable.

If you get the compensation, count it as a bonus but don’t expect it. The current cancellations will be put down variously to exceptional circumstances of covid, hot weather and the passenger/movement caps now extended to end Oct. The covid argument being used to deny claims in recent weeks may unfortunately carry some weight.
so I cant really afford to be messed around on the night of the 2nd August, and potentially missing some work with a client.
BA have rebooked me onto an earlier Larnaca – Heathrow flight meaning I can jump onto the earlier domestic connection upto Manchester. It does mean I’m now downgraded to economy for the domestic connection which loses lounge access though. I’m assuming I’ve lost the right to compensation now?
All this messing about, last week they cancelled my outbound flights, today it’s the inbound. 🙁
if you’ve had to leave more than 60 minutes early then there was a recent EU ruling that you’d be due compensation that I think would apply to you

But I agree with JDB – BA is going to argue hard on extra ordinary circumstances here
