How early do you recommend arriving will be checking in a suitcase
what are the queues like

Depends on the day and time. You can get through the check-in and security to the gate within 20 minutes. But if flying during a peak time (like I did the last Bank Holiday weekend) you can get stuck just at the security for 40mins.

Should be quiet around 10am. Check when your bag drop-off closes to make sure you turn up before that. No need to be there 2 hours before the flight or anything crazy like that.
