Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Lost BA Silver today …. tier point run at cheapest cost / BA Holiday offer?

  • 79 posts

    Hi All

I’m back to BA Bronze after a pretty decent run of BA Silver (covid extensions, etc.). I’m not a massive fan of BA (was Gold for a while with no discernible benefit above Silver), but I certainly got quite a bit of value (in my opinion, happy to be challenged) from Oneworld Sapphire in the form of:
-32kg checked bag weight limits, additional bags per person on same itinerary, free seat selection and Oneworld lounge use (though I have an Amex Plat with PP access).

I’m now weighing up a Tier Point run to regain Silver in the cheapest possible way.
    1) Worth doing or not?
    2) Does anyone have any tips/’sweet spot’ routes to achieve this? I understand there’s a Double Tier point offer…future travel plans include a potential trip to Egypt which could aid the above target.

    Any input greatly appreciated!

    Just checking your thinking:

32kg luggage is not honoured the same way across OneWorld airlines. AA for example will allow you 2 x 23kg bags but will not budge if you give the check in agent 1 bag at 24kg.

Cheapest European runs would be CE to Sofia, with car rental (never picking the car), a couple of them (640 TP total with Ba holiday/car rental deal) plus some positioning tickets in Economy or with a budget airlines.

Two x 5-night BA Holidays breaks to Athens, Malta etc would be enough.
