Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Lounge access when status holder is a child

I cannot find an answer to this question, hopefully I have not missed some obvious clarification of this (or similar) scenario.

My Daughter (12) has now achieved Silver status through her flights with me.
I know that under 18s are not allowed in the lounge unaccompanied, but would they be allowed to guest an adult in to accompany them?

The reason I ask is that her mother does not have any BA status, so if they were to fly together, would they be allowed to use the BA lounges?

Look at it like this. Your wife, daughter and you get to the lounge.

    – You guest your wife. Your daughter then uses her status to enter … but she under 18
    Or
    – She guests her mother and you enter on your own (which is the case you describe here)

So basically this situation has already taken place and you were allowed in.

I suppose what they don’t want is an under 18 to show up at the lounge and then be there on its own.

He doesn’t say it’s his wife. He says it’s his daughter’s mother. So I’m assuming he is not travelling with the child and her mother.

Buy I think the answer to @clubsmed’s question is yes. Your daughter can guest an adult into the lounge.

The simple answer is yes they can guest an over 18 in. Doesn’t have to be a relative.

Yes, my daughter’s mother has not been my wife for many years, so I would not be travelling with them.

My concern is that for someone to be guested into the lounge, they need to be guested by someone who books into the lounge first.
As my daughter is a minor, it is possible she cannot guest into the lounge first as she would need an accompanying adult to have already booked in.
I envisage that if I went to the lounge with my daughter, that at lounge entry, if she was to try and check into it first I would be asked to check in first. This is why the question has occurred to me.
I may of course be overthinking this.

You’re over thinking this. It’s perfectly possible for a 6 month old Silver BAEC baby to guest their 18 year old accompanying sister into a lounge as long as they arrive together. It doesn’t matter who is the member as long as there is 1 adult & no more than the maximum permitted number of guests in the party.

(& yes a 6 month old can travel on a child fare that earns TP’s & therefore have status).

Although the rules do say that under-18s need to be accompanied by an over-18 to enter the lounge, the reality is that this isn’t normally enforced in my experience.

Back in the days when I was under 18, and with silver status, I’ve always got into lounges without any questions asked by the lounge staff, both at Heathrow and abroad.

Indeed our daughter is silver and most likely will be gold early in 2024 with planned flights. She is 2.5yrs old. It is ironic at some point she might be gold longer than is due to different tier point years. I am sure she can guest us in!
