Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Lounge Access – Arriving from JFK in CE with connection in ET

  • 3 posts

    Hi All,

I’m sure this has been asked before but i couldn’t find anything that’s recent – so apologies if i’ve missed something. I’m flying into LHR from New York JFK in CE with a connection to Zurich in ET (which isn’t for approx. 6 hours). Is it possible for me to use the Club Lounges in T5 whilst i’m waiting for the connection? I’m only Bronze member so no current access through tier status.

Yes you get access, the long haul flight gives you this on same-day short haul flight in economy. You’ll probably need to show your JFK-LHR boarding pass though. (Oh, and it’ll be Club World/ CW, not Club Europe on the JFK flight).

Thanks Stu – appreciate the response. Definitely meant CW rather than CE! Do you know if there’s anything officially on the BA site for this? In case the lounge attendent is unaware?

You can definitely use the rather nice arrivals lounge if you get into LHR before 2pm —- they’ll help with your lounge query too

It’s a OneWorld rule – see “oneworld Lounge Access for First Class or Business Class Customers” section.

“Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights: First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 06:00am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).”

Presumably this would also apply if you arrived in Madrid on an overnight flight in business class for your onward flight to the UK, regardless of whether you were in Economy or Business?

Yes, it’s a Oneworld rule so would apply in Madrid as well
