Probably a stupid/obvious question but seem to find mixed messaging online.
How does lounge access work for Avios/reward mixed class bookings with a domestic connection.
Specifically if domestic is business but long-haul is economy or premium, when is lounge access permitted?
I have a booking MAN-LHR-IAD with domestic in business and long-haul in premium. So should I get lounge access in MAN out and LHR back?
Haha, I asked this question a few weeks ago as did someone else so fairly common.
General consensus (and rule is) that the long haul will determine your lounge eligibility so guess that doesn’t really apply in your case. So yes, outound you’ll get lounge in MAN and LHR on return. I was wondering whether you’d get LHR on outbound too but rules say no, though some claim they’ve had success!
+1 – Lounge at MAN outbound and LHR inbound, your domestic business BP doesn’t get you any “extra” lounge access
Oneworld rules do allow access before a short haul if you’ve come off a long haul in Business/First, but do not apply the other way around
People have posted re accessing the lounge after a CE short haul, even if the onward leg is in Y or PE.
Lounge access usually depends on the cabin class of the long-haul segment rather than the short-haul. Since the long-haul is in premium economy, access at LHR might not be included unless there’s status involved.
