Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Lounge access when connecting Club Europe to Economy (LHR & both BA)

  • 2 posts

Hopefully a quick & easy one

Flying BA GLA-LHR in ClubEurope then on to Nashville a few hours later in economy (all on the same booking)

Is it possible to use the BA lounge at LHR with the inbound CE boarding pass as we have a 4hr ish wait

Thank you so much in advance for any help & advice

Someone will be along with a definitive answer, but my understanding is that it’s a hard “NO!”. I’m not a big fan of the paid lounges, but for 4 hours I’d probably stump up the £30pp. Usually cheaper with some kind of Dragon/Priority subs.

I’m 99% sure it’s no to this. Access is determined by the long haul leg when you mixed classes.

This is now on 2 threads! OP isn’t 100% clear on whether they’re talking about their outbound or inbound journey.

You’re allowed to use Lounge based on your CE GLA-LHR. I’ve used it multiple times.

Which lounge and which direction are you referring to? Are you saying you’ve been able to access the lounge at LHR even though your onward connection is in Y? I’d be amazed that the computers would allow that, given how well-primed they apparently are for enforcing the rules, lol.

Would everyone not being doing that, if that were the case?

I have seen this is now running in 2 threads so just to help those that read in the future:

    1) If you arrive to LHR in economy and are leaving in Business class –> Yes, you can use your lounge as per your departing ticket

    2) If you arrive to LHR in Business and are leaving in economy class
    a) If you arrive long haul you will be allowed into the lounge at LHR as you transfer SH in economy (can somebody confirm this is also true if you transfer LH)
    b) If you arrive short haul in business and are now boarding long haul in economy (this is the OP’s question) –> No idea, yet!

Yes, precisely. Short-haul (domestic connection) CE and long-haul in Y, you can access the BA lounge if same day connection. I and family has used it multiple times at LHR.

    2) b) For me Yes, based on my experience.

This along with BA’s generous stopovers option works a treat.

Well that would be great and insane! I hope the OP posts back their experience.

It would indeed be great, I could travel in Y and PE for ever more once my status expires and still get lounge access at LHR by way of a CE domestic connection (which is free on an award booking …). And completely insane in the light of people being turned away for having the wrong FF number on their BP!
