I think I just had a bit of a lightbulb moment, and if I am right, I feel rather foolish.
I always book a room that includes lounge access and breakfast, but does having lounge access automatically mean I get free breakfast in the lounge? Am I essentially double paying for breakfast as I always take breakfast in the lounge?
Yes, you would get whatever breakfast the lounge served but it’s often more limited than the restaurant offering. Some that don’t offer breakfast will let you have it in the restaurant anyway.
I think it is actually paying double, but I tend to be out for most of the day so usually miss the evening offering unless I make a special effort to go back (and it’s not usually worth it!)
Thanks, that is what I feared.
Even though I have always paid for breakfast, I have always taken breakfast in the lounge as I thought that is where I should take it. It never occurred to me that I may get a lesser offering in the lounge.
I would always have a look on a site like FT where there are often reviews (and pictures!) of lounge offerings to see if it’s worth paying for. I usually decide it isn’t, especially if it’s one where I get free breakfast anyway!
