Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Luggage allowance on reward flight help – silver now but dropping to bronze

  • 221 posts

Hello. Sorry may be a silly question! Just booked a BA reward flight cityflyer for this summer and am currently silver. My booking shows 2 pieces checked luggage each but I will be a lowly bronze at the time of travel. Does that mean I will only be able to check 1 piece per person? Got a lot of luggage to bring back after my daughters study year abroad! 😭 Thanks so much in advance.

Unfortunately it’s your status at time of travel that counts. So be prepared to pay excess baggage.

    Ok thank you. Shame!

Similar question. As at 8th May, my gold status will drop to silver. I’ve flights booked in June. Will the system recognise my card as still being valid till the end of June, and will I be able to use first check in and lounge at T5 for these flights. Not too concerned about luggage allowance, but wondered how that would work too.
    Thanks in advance.

Your “card” should still show as gold until the end of June so you should get all the benefits.

You should be fine. Your status perks end at the end of June, even though you haven’t (re-) qualified for the membership year from 8 May.

Yes you will still be Gold until 30 June so you will still have alĺ the benefits that confers.

It is only your TP collection year that ends 8 May.

Thank you to everyone who replied, especially on a day where there is so much excitement and agitation about BA changing the tier point year dates!
