Forums Other Destination advice Madrid Velazquez Lounge – Maximum stay?

  • 70 posts

Hi. I’m flying Madrid – Lima via Iberia in Business (great deal using the BAPP companion voucher btw), and I’m trying to find out if there are any restrictions on the length of stay at the Velazquez lounge. Does anyone know if it’s the usual 3h before the flight?

My flight departs at 12AM, and I’ll check out from the hotel at 2PM. I am planning to visit some of the markets and a museum, but there’s still a lot of time to kill until the flight departs!

Searched on google and on previous posts here but couldn’t find this information.

    Thanks!

I’ve stayed five hours once, no issues.

I’d consider getting a day room at a hotel. You’d be far more comfortable than in a lounge for that length of time.

It’s a standard airline lounge, so if you have access to it you can go in when it opens that day if you want to.
It is a good lounge, though there are better ways to spend time in Madrid

Thanks everyone! I’ll probably enjoy Madrid during the day and then head to the airport around 5pm.

Remember you can leave your luggage the day before at Barajas.

So if you are simply going to Madrid the day before then you can:
    – arrive to Barajas from the UK (I suppose)
    – check-in your luggage at MAD the day before your flight
    – keep a small bag for the day
    – spend night at hotel
    – on the day of the flight, enjoy the day in Madrid
    – arrive to the airport literally 90min before your flight
    – pass security, take train to satellite, passport control (max 30min in total)
    – be on the lounge/gate 60min before departure

No issues with staying at the lounge for long however. They even have a place with loungers if you want to nap (but you will then spend 11hrs on a plane so you may prefer to do some activities).

Thank you. I did not know we could check in a day before with our bags for our MAD-BOG.

This is great to know, thank you!! And yes we’re arriving from the UK the day before.

How far in advance can I check in luggage at the airport?
At Madrid airport you can check in your luggage 24 hours before the departure of your flight.

At all other airports in the Iberia network, check-in for luggage opens as follows:

Long-haul flights: 4 hours before the scheduled time of departure.

(Just pasting in case they do any trouble – which they won’t-)
