Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    Hi to all.

I recently secured reward flights from Heathrow to Male for the end of March 26.

I’m trying to book the return leg and was on the phone this evening to the Australian call centre unsuccessfully.

I’m looking at plan b, which is essentially just to buy another flight using cash from Male to Heathrow but the Ba website is showing no direct flights from Male to Heathrow after sun 29th March 2026.

Have I missed something here? Are there really no flights available or are these flights selling out instantly?

Many thanks in advance for your advice. It was the advice of this forum that helped me secure the outbound reward flights of which I am very thankful!

BA probably hasn’t decided on the flight schedules yet

29/3 is the start of the summer season
Do they fly to Make during summer at all? If they do, it could just mean they haven’t decided on the schedule yet.

I think it’s year round now, but cash prices can be ridiculous on BA one-way tickets. Another option would be to connect to (e.g.) DXB or DOH and use avios to return from there.

They’re flying it a few times a week this summer so it may get added. Otherwise Avios availability on Qatar connecting to BA seems pretty good , you could book that as a back up plan. Maybe worth setting up seatspy to monitor for them adding the direct flights

    Thanks for your responses.

    So the plot thickens.

The BA website isnt showing any flights from Male to Heathrow in April 2026. However, if for example, I try and book a return leaving Heathrow on the 28th March it lets me book a return leg on the 1st, 3rd, or 5th of April.

So it would seem that the schedule is confirmed, but I cant book one way from Male on the website.

Is this a common BA thing?

Perhaps sounds like usual rule apply. Be on the phone for midnight for the flights released for Wed 8th?

Come back via Bengaluru. Much easier to get J from there. Plenty of cheap flights from Male. Stay at the Taj at Bengaluru Airport for one night, Bengaluru flight is early am.

Weirdly they’re only selling the flights one way in F for cash!

Male flights seem particularly tricky to get hold of and the first few “summer” flights back will especially competitive due to the lower frequency. I’d try the phone and the website. Good luck! I only got PE coming back earlier in March.

Also VS flies there if you have about a billion Virgin points.

Sounds like a good excuse to try Beond

That’s what we’re doing Monday. Also in India with direct flights from MLE you have DEL, BOM and COK though no BA flights from COK.

    Did you have any luck?
I’ve just come across the same dilemma!

No direct flight showing (only if booked as a return from London)
Have searched for flights on the stroke of 1am to then just shown an availibilty calendar instead. It showed no flights, not even in-direct options.
Called the number and they said they’ve all gone.
For some reason I don’t believe they were there?
    Any help??

I’ve got virgin points so will try those in a few weeks, but nervous to how many points would be needed?

When have you been searching for? There are only 3 flights per week in summer. It would be helpful to keep to one thread as this has been mentioned several times already this week!

But it does look like they’re just all being snapped up atm with people returning from Easter holidays with the reduced timetable.
