Hi All,
Long time reader, but my first forum post,
I’d like to travel from Manchester to Singapore in May 2025 first class with British Airways. I have tracked seatspy which only shows the london>Singapore route. When I checked on the 5th of jan SS showed moderate availability, however now all first class seats have disappeared.
I’d welcome any experienced feedback on how to book these flights, tips or tricks I should think about. I’m also prepared to travel to Heathrow and fly direct Heathrow to singapore.
I have collected 275,000 Avios and have a BA Amex Premium Voucher.
Many thanks in advance
SIN is one of the more difficult redemptions to get, and you may well be too late now to find availability for May. Additionally, BA doesn’t guarantee to release any first class seats, on any routes, so all you can do is keep checking and set up a SeatSpy alert if you haven’t already. There’s currently one F seat showing on May 27th, but it’s not always accurate.
BA only flies this route from LHR, so you’ll need to get there anyway, but adding a connection from MAN won’t cost you anything as long as it’s all on one booking.
If you’re prepared to fly in Club World, your BA Amex voucher might open up extra availability from Manchester – have you searched with it?

If the seats were there on the 5th, you should have booked if the dates worked for you (it would only cost £35 to cancel). Those seats would get snapped up PDQ. You just have to wait for another alert, or as NL says, maybe “settle” for Club, and use your Amex voucher to hopefully pick up additional availability (which is more likely if you were to start in Manchester).
Have you logged in and checked MAN – SIN? In the past, regional airports had better availability than starting from LHR.
Thanks for the feedback all,
I know they don’t guarantee first class availability, but I understood they release some seats closer to the dates if availability allows. I had also read that choosing Manchester in the BA Reward flight search can unlock more availablity.
However when I check it always says a big fat no 😂
How would I add on the Manchester leg if I did manage to book a Heathrow to Singapore trip? Just ask the agent when booking on the phone?

Yes, You can also mix classes, Business for the long haul and economy for the domestic leg
If you’re already searching MAN-LHR-SIN with the voucher you don’t need to call BA, just continue with the booking. Even if you find F on one of the legs, you might have to return in a different cabin – this can do strange things with the surcharges and sometimes makes it more expensive so you may want to book the inbound separately and request half the avios back.

… and the call centre may refuse to do this, or charge a fee, if you could have booked the return at the time of booking the outbound. Their obligation only extends to adding a return when the outbound was booked before the return date was unavailable for booking.
Good point, I often forget that because I tend to book so far out! So you may have to suck up the surcharges.
Hi all, so I managed to book a one way trip for 2 from MCR to Singapore first class using avios and the voucher 👍🏼
However there seems to be little in terms of return availability.
Any recommendations on what to do in this situation? Is it likely business class Availability will open up closer to the date? Do BA offer flexible bookings I’m saying premium economy so I could cancel if avios availablity become open?
If not could I use the voucher on a future one-way trip to another destination or is it forfeit?
Many thanks again 🙏🏼
There’s no guarantee of more availability opening up, but you can keep checking (and ask if someone with a voucher will check if there’s any “extra”). You’d need to call to book this and ask the agent to apply the voucher to the inbound leg. It might be safer to book a contingency return, such as from HKG, and get a separate flight between the two.
You can use the other half of the voucher on another trip within 12 months, but it would need to comply with the open jaw rules (lots about that on this site).
