Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Maximising Avios to book Aer lingus flights

Hi all, apologies, fairly new here, not sure if this is the best place to ask this question. would appreciate some advice. I currently have 125k avios points. I am hoping to fly dublin to Orlando July 25 at 25k points per person per flight (peak /zone 6) 5 flyers – 2 adults, 3 kids (age 6,3 and 0)

Given the slight change in aerlingus booking processes recently and tax increases ie avios.com is dead and aerlingus now have their own website to book rewards.

Would anyone have experience of the best way to book?

My current thinking is book all 4 for outbound as soon as reward seats become available 355days in advance. (The infant under 2 I believe is tax only?) outbound flights appear to be higher than inbound? Then get one adult reward seat on the way home and pay for the other 3 plus infant.

Is it still better ringing the BA phone line to get lower taxes than booking online via aerlingus?

Are there any pros cons in one way tickets vs return or anything else that may be of use to consider to May the flight booking as cheap and painless as possible while maximising the points? All help greatly received

One snag I can see is that EI may not release as many rewardson its flights as BA does on theirs.

Ron wrote an articlerecently about bookign EI reward flights. Have you read it?

I had thought there were 8 economy generated per flight, but could be wrong. I seen the hfp articles:

NEW: Avios flight bookings can now be made via the Aer Lingus site – and there’s a chart! 27/3/24

Aer Lingus redemptions are still far cheaper when booked at avios.com (but no 2-4-1’s) 10/8/23

    Were there any others?

Assuming I can get enough reward seats, would this be the best use?
