I may book an Etihad flight that arrives into Abu Dhabi at 00:40 (in business class, if that makes any difference). I’m wondering if I should just book a hotel for the night before, or is there any other options?
Unsure of your question however when we landed into Abu Dhabi at 1am I booked us into the Premier Inn at the airport for about £70 staying there for 8 hours.
Saved about £300 rather than heading straight to the Shangri La, we still checked early enough to make our (free) breakfast at the Shang.
If not with family I generally do the first night somewhere cheap, get some sleep, late breakfast and pitch up at noon at the ‘posh’ hotel.
Similarly, if on an early flight back, a guaranteed 4pm check out via FHR etc lets you have a full last day then move somewhere cheap for the last night.
Beware – taxis in Abu Dhabi, even picking up from the airport ,may not take card payments. We found out only at arrival at our hotel on Yas Island.
