i’m flying EDI-LHR-MXP and then returning MXP-LHR-EDI on one ticket, and i’d like to book business one-way and economy the other (the price is only ~£100 more and I’ll get 100TP extra because of adding a car)
however when i try to do it online, if i book my outbound as Economy(Plus) then the return only lets me select Economy Plus, and if I book Business out, then I only get to book Business return. This is only on the flight times that I choose (the earliest ones), with other flight times available for both Economy and Business.
Is this something I can ring up and book? And I guess I’d need to try the BA Holiday line as I’ll be adding a car? Or should I just booked the outbound Business, then book the return as Economy on the next flight that day, then cross my fingers, arrive at the airport early and do a same-day-change…
Mixed Cabins are allowed, call up to book.
I’d try the custom trip function. BTW there are some LCY-LIN flights on Saturdays and Sundays.
You still can’t mix cabins even using custom trip, the only way is to call.
You certainly can book mixed cabin trips in most cases, so not sure why you can’t book this – other than the weirdness of BA IT. It used to be a thing that you couldn’t mix cabins but that changed a while ago.
I’ve just tried several bookings which all allow one cabin out and another back, on direct flights and connections. The only only itinerary I have found where it was not possible was your example – whereas it allows mixed cabins to/from Linate (the other Milan airport). All very odd.
yea, it’s only on the flights I want that the mixed cabin isn’t allowed… there is only one “tab” across both columns, where as the other flights have Economy and Business tabs
unfortunately i can’t do Linate, as I fly to Sardinia from MXP and also have my office close to MXP
i haven’t had to ring up to do stuff, since the covid days so i guess i’ve just been put off doing it haha
