Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Moved to First Cabin (LHR to EZE)

    Hi guys,

Few days ago i flew from LHR to EZE (Buenos Aires) in Business (Plane 787-9).

When i was about to board i was told i was being moved (i had my seat selected on Business cabin) and i didn’t understand why i was being moved, i was not even aware this plane had a first cabin. I did fly this route a few times before and didn’t realize there was a First Class Cabin. Honestly it was a nice experience and the seats were significantly better than the Business seats. Few questions i have:

Why this cabin is not for sale on this route? Does the plane usually fly with this cabin empty on this route?

Why was i moved? Is it because maybe they oversold the business seats and they had to move a few person out to the First Cabin? And if so, the people that are moved are just pick randomly? Was i just lucky?

    Thanks

No First) due to staffing requirements of having a first class cabin vs running a business service to additional seats.
Why used) because BA probably oversold the Y cabin and rolled folks forward into WTP and then into business

It is called on Flyertalk FLUB and is a bone of contention amoungst Golds and the F cabin usage is often given to staff tickets, especially at certain outstations

This happened to us once from LHR-GCM, the rest of the F cabin was given over to the family of the Captain who were off on holiday!

Thanks for the answer! I’m actually BAEC Silver, not gold, but i’m close to Gold and been travelling often this year in BA Business because of work so maybe i was picked for that reason!
