Has it been announced yet if/when it will be possible to move avios from BA accounts into Qatar accounts after Qatar adopts avios as its currency?
It was announced that later in March. Still says end of March: https://qatarairways.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4446194059025-When-will-this-change-take-effect-

Nothing on that page mentions avios being transferrable in/out of Qatar Privilege Club accounts though. That doesn’t seem to be such an obvious feature as to go without mentioning, but maybe that’s just me.

Ah yeah, you’re right. I just assumed all-in. But if it has dependency on BA’s IT it might not be this year 🙈… Unless the looong BA upgrade last autumn made this easier (too naive?)
They WILL be transferable to Privilege Club. We were asked not to report this, but it will be possible.
Jacob – you need to separate BA from IAG Loyalty. This has nothing to do with BA, and indeed BA is likely to be a big loser from the process. There are people involved in this, for example, who want 2-4-1 vouchers to eventually be redeemable on Qatar.

Thanks for the extra info! I know BA and IAG Loyalty are separate entities, but from the user point it doesn’t matter that much. I was just judging on the fact how long it took BA (not IAG Loyalty?) to fix the ‘Combine Avios’ functionality between BA and Iberia when using household account – as my understanding was that it was BA’s IT problem?
Appears to have launched.

You might not be able to say but is this more on the Qatar or Amex side for the 241s that the pressure is coming from?

I think we need to be fair to BA and hope they are able to continue to restrict use of 241’s to BA’s own flights.

If BA drop their fees and taxes for redemptions to match Qatar then fine. Otherwise they can just live with the consequences of their ridiculous pricing choices.
Looks like Qatar has already doubled their tax and surcharge for reward ticket. I was monitoring flight to Maldives, it cost £500 for two people yesterday, now it will cost £500 for just 1.

I disagree LL, BA have butchered their network and frequencies East of Delhi. If they want us to use Qatar to go there then I’d much prefer to be able to use our amex and other vouchers, at least where BA codeshare but will be pleasantly surprised should that come to pass.

It seems that Qatar has this option to pay double avios + double surcharges on some flights where there are no standard reward seats available.
Combine my Avios working seamlessly for me between Qatar and BA, must mean Qatar sorted out the IT on this one?
Wow, linking was a breeze. I guess there’s no SeatSpy equivalent for Qatar?
I notice an oddity, whilst linking the accounts.
BA asked me “enter” my phone number so that they can send a code. I don’t know what would happen if I enter a different number rather than the one they have. I hope they are not that dumb to send a TFA code to a new number just like that..I notice an oddity, whilst linking the accounts.

Would be handy to know what the cancellation fees are for Privilege Club Avios bookings

Linked my wife’s accounts and, as she wasn’t there, gave my mobile number. Worked fine. Idiots.
Worth noting 2,500 Avios available for new Qatar sings ups, using ‘FLYQR2‘ when signing up. Can instantly transfer into your ba account.

Showing your ignorance there. Email & cell number are so changeable they’re rarely used as authentication – just as a tool to pass on info. Behind the scenes you’ll generally find other checks being made (name verification, IP address, geo location). Those are what are tracked & monitored for odd behaviour & cause accounts to be locked if suspect.

My accounts linked fine but keep getting an error message when trying to transfer avios to BA. Anyone been able to fix this?

Well, I did all these using a VPN with a dutch IP address sitting on my chair in London.
I wouldn’t overestimate BA IT if I were you.
