Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Multiple tabs, same browser

  • 234 posts

Can’t seem to do anything if I try looking for avios /241 flights. The site comes up with multiple tabs open in browser. Use just one. I’ve closed everything etc and still no joy. However, if I want to make a cash booking , bingo! It allows me.
Is this me ? Is this BAs IT and is this happening to anyone else?

I gave up on their desktop site a long time ago. Try their site on a mobile phone browser, works like a charm for me every time on Chrome for mobile.

It’s happening on my mobile and ipad. Doesn’t matter if I go through the app or not . However I do use Safari

    Delete cookies and try again?

Yeah, I have the same issue with Safari. Cleared cache and cookies but the issue remains.

Switching to Edge or Chrome resolved that annoying error.

Happened to me this morning when trying to make a booking! I was trying via safari in a MacBook, and it kept failing returning the message that I had multiple tabs opened (not the case).

I tried again via safari using mobile and it worked.

Actually happened to me in the BA app a few hours ago, and on safari. What their servers think is going on to generate the error within their own app is anyone’s guess.

Having the same issue on mobile and desktop with both safari and chrome. Can’t book a thing with Avios.

It’s of some comfort that I’m not the only one finding difficulties and hopefully BA techy folk are on the case. I do hope this is not a sign of how BA are ‘improving’ their IT system at vast cost.
Obviously a glitch as some swear by chrome and others safari. I’m not betting on how long it takes to fix!

I have been getting the same error all day. Have cleared cache, deleted history, tried Safari, Firefox, mobile, PC, all to no avail. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

Happening to me now at 15:24 on Windows 10 and Firefox. Just more of CR@P IT systems from this stuffed-up company.
More untested changes promoted to the live system, by scattered developers working from their bedrooms, with no form of oversight or change control procedures. An utter shambles which can only be fixed by purging people from the top down. A large stack of P45s.
Has anyone else noticed how logins fail to show the “My Account” link most of the time? It’s actually impossible to get to a full account management screen. Only been like that for 2+ months.
Ooooh we’re sorry , ooooh there was an error, oooh you’re (NOT) using multiple tabs, SQL Database errors, … …
COMPLETELY SHAMBOLIC AND AMATEURISH. No sorry, amateurs would no a better job of it! My cat would do a better job of it, despite being dead!
And to think, they ask you to store your CC details on their website “because it’s safer” HAHAHAHA
There are more holes in their systems than a pair of net curtains and it won’t be long before another high profile incident occurs.

I should think it’s the opposite – multiple conflicting change management processes with it being impossible to get anything done.

The first reaction to any problem of management in dinosaur orgs is to forbid any kind of changes whatsoever. Afterwards they make the process more difficult in future, until changing a typo involves weeks of waiting and multiple committee reviews by people who know nothing about the tech, where everyone has the power to block you and no-one has the power to drive things on.

Characteristic of agile orgs where “untested changes promoted to live” happen, is that stuff gets improved and fixed quickly because the org is full of experienced people who understand the stack fully because they interact with it all the time. And where an outage or bug was caused, test coverage gets improved to catch the same error in future.

This happens to me when I click another date too quickly. Restarting the search fixes it

“… when you select another date too quickly …”
Sorry @John, I don’t understand how you can select another date when it’s not getting beyond the initial Avios search panel. The one that says “Book with Avios” or “Book and Upgrade” with the vouchers/no vouchers option.
Just changing the outbound date on this screen makes absolutely no difference.
But don’t worry, I’ve got my cat working on it – she appears to making some progress!! Unlike the BA cretins.

I didn’t bother clearing cache, cookies, etc on my Firefox browser, as so many have said that it doesn’t make any difference. I’ve just tried logging-in with Edge and it works. So I cleared the Firefox history for BA and it now works.
This has happened umpteen times the past few months, presumably when the IT idiots change the data/format of what is saved in the Cookies, etc. A simple bit of version control would handle this – has the cookie format changed? Yes – recreate the cookie in the new format.
    Just more cretinous amateurism.

Same issue here, been trying all day on my phone via Chrome, Edge and Safari (also incognito and cleared all cache).
Randomly worked around 4pm on desktop (chrome) where it displayed flight choices/times – but hit another booking error and then didn’t work afterwards.
    Very frustrating.

Downloaded Edge (never used before) on iPad and got the same problem.. BA need to fix this quickly..is there a good way of making them aware of the issue?
