Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Nectar auto-convert offer – not possible?

  • 322 posts

Question about the current competition where you have to set up auto-convert from Nectar to Avios and transfer at least 400 Nectar to Avios in February, March, April and May to qualify for entry.

I’ve just done this, and had over 40,000 Nectar, so 40,000 auto-converted.

However, according the the standard T&C, 40,000 is the quarterly cap for auto-convert transfers. That means that it’s impossible for me to auto-convert points in February and March, correct?

Assume that means I’m not eligible for the offer? Does that sound right?

In the same position, and am thinking the same based on how Ts and Cs are written. If that’s true, then not very fair to be excluded, seems the inventors of the competition perhaps didn’t think of this scenario…?

It’s a right mess indeed. After reading the t&cs I think I’ve worked out the best approach for those with higher nectar balances.

There are 2 different transfer limits:

    1. You can manually convert up to 80k a month
    2. You can auto convert 40k per quarter

Therefore providing you are happy to transfer the points manually convert the vast majority (or all if under 80k) then turn auto-convert on and assuming you will earn more than 400 points per month these will automatically transfer over and meet the competition requirements and you shouldn’t get anywhere near the 40k limit.

Yes, if you can manually move enough points to create the headroom for 400 points a week to auto convert Without reaching the 40k per quarter limit, then happy days, but if you have a bigger stash I think you are stuck with just being able to gain the 2x points in Sainsburys in Feb…….

That’s what I did on my wife’s card, had slightlyt over 40k, converted almost all of it and left the rest for autoconvert. Shouldn’t have problems to get the 400 points in the next months.
