I am looking at cancelling my amex rewards card and signing up for the nectar card so that in 24 months I can make use of the Platinum SUB.
I am aware that I cannot take advantage of the 20k points + first year free welcome offer.
However, would I be eligible to earn the 5k referral points / the 30 pounds Top Cashback?

The person referring you will get the referral points, you will get nothing.

Nope, they are subject to different rules. As Reney says, referrer will get a bonus even if applicant doesn’t get a sign up bonus.
