Not sure if this has been asked / answered somewhere already…
So, as the main booker / payer in my household I guess that if I want to retain silver, I now need to Book my flight / hotel / car..etc , then do a separate flight booking for the other half?. If this is the case, then will I still be able to select her seat at the 30 day window? or will she be relegated to 7 days as she is bronze?
thanks
If you have separate bookings, each person will only be able to select seats for free in accordance with their individual status (except, IIRC, if one of you is GGL). You might therefore need to pay for the other person’s seat if you want to sit together.
Not sure what you mean by the 30-day window, though, Silver can select for free from the point of booking.
Many thanks. for some reason I thought it was 30 day from departure…
Gold can also select seats for others in the same cabin on separate bookings. Not that that will matter for many going forward!
@Matt, thanks for clarifying that – means I will be able to get some use of out that after all! For some reason I had it in my head it was for GGL, may have been confusing with the thing where you can force extra avios seats to open up.
What woudl happen if i did this
1) My flight / hotel / car ..ect on one booking, paying for it in full.
2) A second flight booking in my other halfs name, which I pay for?
On the 2nd booking do you know if can I select the seat?
Seat selection privilege comes from who is on the booking.

Thanks..
I literally said that in my answer to your original post!

Well actually, the gold line when I was gold let me choose a seat for someone in a different cabin on the same flight, but I think that’s an agent being very helpful
In software engineering terms this describes a “use case” (initially developed by Jacobsen in the late 80s) and a cornerstone of developing software/systems engineering ever since. “How would the user use/interact” with this system.
Unfortunately BA did not employ (or listen to) anyone which such a skill, which is why the OP’s @DanC scenario benefits no-one. The OP has a more complex booking, it costs more for BA to process and amend multiple bookings, and then there’s issues at check-in/gate about seating (delaying boarding) and reduced customer satisfaction (and retention).
I’ll do 3 days a week for £150k + benefits.
