I’m interested in signing up for the Amex Preferred Rewards Gold card (I don’t think I can hit the Platinum spend target). The only Amex I’ve held before was a Platinum Cashback credit card, which I cancelled in December 2022. Will I qualify for the new cardmember offer?
The Head for Points article on the Platinum card offer says “you will definitely receive the sign-up bonus on The Platinum Card if you already have a BA Amex, Nectar Amex, Marriott Bonvoy Amex or Platinum Cashback Amex”. But I don’t know if this applies to the Gold card also, and I haven’t been able to confirm this with Amex customer support (they told me that my prior cashback card qualifies as a personal card, and as I’ve held it within the last 24 months, I wouldn’t qualify for the new cardmember offer).
