Also, are purchases instant? I’m in need of some miles for an SQ flight but I need to call to check if available. If they say yes, can I buy immediately?

Yes they appear pretty much instantly, and you can also refund them within 14 days if you haven’t touched them and your redemption is no longer available. But definitely check that it still states that in the T&Cs.

@anuj, good to know about the refund. I will check that out. Hoping for a well timed offer in October, though the points I now need are minimal, so it’s probably pointless waiting for what will be a minor saving.
