Just got an email saying the bonus is 60k when applying via BA website for the BAPP card

Great catch! Did anyone have success in applying with a lower that 35k income (i.e. £30k)?

I haven’t tried yet, but unfortunately, the application does make it clear you need to be earning at least £35k, so I gave up at that point. Very annoying, considering I am hoping to book expensive BA flights! 🙁

NB. According to T&Cs of this offer, you should have not held ANY AMEX personal cards in the last 24 months to get 60k bonus points… as opposed to normal 25k offer which only limits you to have not held a BA card in the last 24 months

I think this is what some others discovered last time as well… though I assume people got the points?

Says the below on the page.

    New Cardmember Offer:

If you have held a personal British Airways American Express Card within the previous 24 months, you will be entitled to all other Card benefits, excluding the welcome offer.

I think BAPP is okay, because it states the usual:

This new Cardmember offer is only available if you have not held a personal British Airways American Express Card within the previous 24 months. If you have held a personal British Airways American Express Card within the previous 24 months, you will be entitled to all other Card benefits, excluding the welcome offer.

    60,000 bonus Avios:
60,000 bonus Avios will be awarded onto your Account if you are a new Cardmember and you have applied after 00:01am 1 May 2024 and before 23:59pm 11 June 2024 and once you have been approved and you have spent and charged a minimum of £3,000 on goods and services to the Account within the first three months of Cardmembership. Cardmembership begins from Card approval. Please note, it can take up to one month for the bonus Avios to be awarded to your Account once you have met the required spend. You must apply through the link on this page to receive this offer. Applications made through other channels may receive a lower offer. You must be a British Airways Executive Club Member to receive the limited-time welcome bonus.

    The free card states:

This new Cardmember offer is only available if you have not held a personal American Express® Card within the previous 24 months. If you have held a personal American Express Card within the previous 24 months, you will be entitled to all other Card benefits, excluding the welcome offer.

    7,000 bonus Avios:

Well I hope this encourages Barclays to offer something special too.

The email also thinks the spend requirement to receive the 241 voucher is £10k per year, not £15k

It’s correct because the £10k is still in place – either spend £10k by 31 October or £15k by next May’s anniversary date.

Got the same here. Anyone know how likely these promotions are to be pulled prior to the outlined end date (11th June 2024)?

I only got the Gold card about 4 weeks ago, and probably won’t reach the required spend to get the 25k points for that until the end of this month at the least.

My ideal plan is to get the Gold SUB by the end of May, then immediately sign up for BAPP using this promo.

I think these generally run the full course.

Am I right in thinking £300 fee for 60k avios is a good deal?

It’s better than the standard 25,000

At a minimum you would be getting 64,500 Avios for £300 if you spend £3,000 in 3 months. Plus you get a good few more and the 2-4-1 if you spend £10K/£15K within the specified timeframes.

Only available to Executive Club Members through the link below until 11 June 2024.

My two years for BAPP Amex is just up, and “any personal” at the end of this month… I was going to go back to my trusty Marriott, but now tempted by this…

“The introductory offer for the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card is not available if you currently hold or have held any personal British Airways American Express Card product in the past 24 months. All information including Representative”

My reading of this is you would get the 60k offer even if you hold Gold or Platinum. Correct?

Before 31 Oct, if you could hit the 10k, youd be up 79,500 with SUB, spend to hit bonus/241 and a 241. So yes.

I believe this is incorrect, where can you see this term?

Always worried about the small print changing over time on these cards but this article suggests you could get the bonus if already hold a preferred rewards gold.

Does anyone have any insight ?

    Rob’s most famous article: https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/01/01/what-amex-sign-up-bonuses-are-you-still-eligible-for-3/

I think you would be alright. The opposite of going from BA+ to Gold and then getting two bonuses is not possible, which is why I might sit this one out.

Of course, if Amex don’t ban partial refunds (as they say they will at some point) then it could be an exceptionally good deal. Hit the spending target and then cancel…

Can Amex CS tell me if I’m passed my 24 month period via chat?

I think I closed my account Apr 2022, so should have passed the 24 months. But the card still displayed in my app for months after that. And it still shows in P2’s app too, despite 23 months since closing.

Indeed. Just to correct & clarify. “Any” term applies to free card; BAPP SUP is still relying on not having a BA card in the last 24 months. Source: https://www.shopping.ba.com/collect/britishairways-americanexpress

Will they increase the referral bonus? Is this worth waiting for or should I be jumping at this?
